How would you feel if your hero was thrown in jail? Would you feel that he deserved it or would you be angry with the people who put him there for a small crime? That's what happened to famous role model and rapper T.I.. he was thrown in jail for trying to protect his life by means of automatic weaponry but he should have been able to walk free.
Many teens and young adults believe that T.I. should not have ended up in jail for his crime. Prior to the fact that it was a federal offense he had little to no options it was either die or go to jail. In that situation T.I. did all any person in that situation could do. He couldn't go to the authorities because he could not gather enough evidence to put the one's who threatened his life into jail. What is right and what is wrong are very hard to identify when your life is in danger and there is no way out.
I understand that what he did was every dangerous and illegal but his choices were running thin. In a situation where you have the choice to; die,go to jail, or defend yourself you tend to choose to defend yourself. T.I.'s neighborhood had a lot of gangs that didn't like his success or rise in fame. Many people have the option of running but T.I. did not have that option because he financially and spiritually supported his family and he didn't want them to pay for his mistakes.
I think that a case like this that is serious in many ways should ultimately be handled by the people. I have asked many of my peers and young adults their opinion of the outcome of the case and, they didn't like that after all he's done he still had to go to jail. T.I. has come a long way not just for his family and himself but for the black community. There aren't many rappers who rap about morals and whats right and wrong.
T.I. doesn't only rap he also makes sure he puts messages in his music. He says in his music not to make the same mistakes he did and don't do or sell drugs. He not only sets an example for his kids but his fans too ,and lets them know respect is earned not given. T.I. has also giving back to his community more than the average rapper has. T.I. is a rapper who values morales more than anything and that's a lot for a rapper who grew up on the steets.
So what would you do if your hero was thrown in jail? Would you think he desrved it? Would you protest and fight for their freedom? Or would you sit there and let your hero rot in a place he doesn't belong. Wrong is wrong but a hero is forever even if they may occasionaly make the wrong choice.
